Hello everyone!
we are very excited to announce that on Saturday, Nov 14th in Salt Lake City and Monday evening Nov 16th in Sugar Bowl, CA we will be holding a Judges and coaches summit. we will be at the MSI warehouse in Salt Lake City at 10:00am on the 14th and at the Sugar Bowl Village Hall from 5-9pm on the 16th. This summit is actually a workshop for athletes, coaches and parents, as well as event organizers and ski area marketing and management personnel. Our goal is to inform and educate so that we can create qualified and informed judges. Our goal is to educate qualified athletes and individuals so that we may diversify and increase our resource for freeskiing judges. We want to provide information for athletes, parents and coaches so that there is a clear understanding of our criteria and our goal to produce and encourage safe and quality events.

Topics will include a history of competitive freeskiing, (video) a power point of the IFSA judging format and criteria, Judging and score card symposium, discussion of judging protocols and contingency plans, and safety protocols as they relate to the over all event, venue and host mountain standards. Also there will be emphasis on the coaching aspect of freeskiing and what we are looking for in young new skiers. The cost of the summit will be $50 on the day of the event. The fee will cover your annual membership for the 2010 season and you will be placed on our judges roster of which we can begin resourcing for junior freeskiing events as well as the WT and FWTQ’s(Qualifiers)
Come be a part of this first time event and opportunity. The IFSA and its members are vital to the success and future of freeskiing competition. We are the foundation of what freeskiing competition is today and we continue to govern the standards that make our events competitive, exciting to watch and most importantly SAFE. This will be a great day to learn the ins and the outs of judging and how our sport is changing and to share thoughts, concerns and ideas about coaching techniques and the importance of educating new competitors to be sound, strong, calculated skiers and good decision makers.
