IFSA to Launch Collegiate Freeride Series for 2014-2015 Season
The International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association (IFSA) is proud to announce that plans are under way to launch the Collegiate Freeride Series (CFS) for the 2014-2015 winter season. The CFS is designed to allow young freeriders to gain more experience in big mountain competition as well as allow member schools to build points towards overall collegiate titles.
The CFS will travel to three top-tier resorts in its inaugural year. The first stop will be Grand Targhee, followed by Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The first ever CFS Finals will be held at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort.
- Grand Targhee: January 31st through February 1st
- Crested Butte Mountain Resort: February 14th through February 15th
- SnowbirdSkiandSummerResort: March6 ththrough March8th
Member Schools will be able to register for a predetermined number of quota spots for each event. Each school will build points over the course of the series for a shot at the overall CFS National Title. The CFS National Title will be awarded to the program with the highest cumulative points.
There will also be a U24 Open Class at each competition for young athletes that are not currently enrolled in school, or are attending a non-member institution.
Open registration will open December 8th, 2014. Member schools will be allowed to register for their quota spots on December 8th. All athletes must be IFSA members prior to registering for individual events.
Everyone at the IFSA, Grand Targhee, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and the the many committed Colleges and Universities are incredibly excited for this new stage in the progression of competitive freeskiing!
