Tell us about your 2018-2019 Freeride season.
The IFSA season was awesome this year. I was able to travel to several new resorts (Big Sky, Snowbird, Crested Butte, Beartooth, Taos, and Kicking Horse) for competitions and Freeriding. And I got to compete on my home mountain for the Breckenridge regional. Making it to Kicking Horse was a highlight in itself because I got to ride a sick mountain in the Canadian Rockies and compete in an awesome comp with the best snowboarders around. Winning NorAms just topped it all off.
How do you prepare for Freeride season in the summer?
My summer is currently up in the air. Last year I took a big road trip from Colorado to Montana and then to Oregon with some teammates for summer training. This summer I might do something similar or just chill at home and enjoy my time before college at MSU next year.
In my snowboarding I look up to Michael Mawn and Blake Moller. Michael Mawn is a close friend and teammate who won the NorAm overalls in 2018 and earned 4th overall on the FWQ Tour this year. He rides with an amazing style that I try to incorporate into my own riding. Blake Moller was the Region 2 FWQ winner this year and will be on the FWT next year as a 2020 rookie. I had the honor of riding with him a couple times this year and learning what the top tier of athletes ride like was beyond inspiring. I look up to both of these guys immensely as snowboard athletes and as people.
