Tell us about your favorite FWQ competition run in 2019.
Definitely the run that qualified me for the tour at Kirkwood in April 2019. I had a formula and executed everything as I needed to. I needed to win and the two girls ahead of me in the rankings had to place lower than 3rd. It was tough but it worked out!
Where are you based?
I’ve been living in Banff, Alberta here in the Canadian Rockies for 22 years. My fave resorts in town are called SkiBig3, which consists of Lake Louise Mountain Resort, Banff, Sunshine Village, and Mt. Norquay.
Where is your favorite place to compete?
I love any place with good landings and nice snow! The IFSA FWQ series of events here in Region 2 definitely gets me to places I love!
What is your favorite part about the Freeride community?
I love the camaraderie between the athletes, especially the female snowboarders. I’m lucky to be one! There’s always someone stoked out. Even when you’ve had a bad run/day/week there are angels out in our community who keep the vibe high!
How are you preparing for your return to the FWT in 2020?
I’m doing as much visualization as I can in addition to the usual training I do every summer before competing on the tour. Mountain biking, weights, trail running, hiking and yoga keep me busy. I’ll amp up my training schedule in the fall with a trainer. I’ll be working a ton trying to save money for the tour too! I’ll be more ready this time around and am excited to compete with more experience. Being a rookie on the FWT is a really big bite to chew...So many unknowns!
What are you most looking forward to on the FWT 2020 Tour?
I’m planning on cinching the title by following my aforementioned formula which has served me well over the years. I am also collaborating with a coach to help me get more tricks under my sleeve. I can't wait to send it!
