How was the FWQ season for you this year?
It was my first year doing FWQs and I had an absolute blast. We got a great crew together from my school at Montana State University and managed to find the time to travel around and compete in the series. It was a big transition for me coming from junior comps with lots of support/help from coaches and friends but it ended up being a great challenge that taught me a lot.
What are you up to this summer preparing for FWT? Any exciting projects planned?
This summer I’m going to be back home in Lake Tahoe California working and saving up as much money as I can for the upcoming year. I have an amazing job at Obexers boat Co which is a boat marina on the west shore of Tahoe. On my free time I’m going to work on getting myself in the right condition to ski these crazy tour faces. So lots of mountain biking, running and wake surfing.
Anyone you look up to or inspires you? Anyone you look forward to competing with on FWT?
I look up to a lot of people, I think there issomething unique to learn from and be motivated by from every person, but my biggest inspiration has come from a young girl on my old ski team (Squaw Valley Big Mountain) Hannah Epsteyn. She is 13 years old and an incredible skier. She has shown me that anything is possible with desire and dedication. She has broken every stereotype and barrier set about females on skis at 13 years old. She is always so enthusiastic, confident and willing to try new things. Her love for skiing and desire to improve and learn is very obvious and I truly admire that and try to take it to my own skiing everyday.
I am looking forward to competing with all the girls on the tour. I have looked up to these women for so many years, and having the opportunity to ski the same face as them is a dream come true.
